14U Head Coach
Jason Novak was born in Evergreen Park, Illinois and grew up in the Homer Township/Lockport Area. Being the Youngest of 4, he grew up watching his older siblings playing baseball and softball at elevated levels. Following in their footsteps, Jason played a great deal of travel ball all over the southwest suburbs growing up. He played four years of baseball at Lockport Township High School, for some great coaches including Butch Markelz and Jim Hall, with a Summer League All-Tournament Team selection highlighting those years. He received an athletic scholarship to play at the University of St. Francis (Joliet, Il), with 3 of those seasons being played under the legendary coach Gordie Gillespie. He was a 4-year starter as a pitcher and his senior season was his best when he accumulated a 10-1 record. A great showing at open tryout landed him on the roster for the then Joliet Jackhammers of the Independent Norther League, coached by Wally Backman.
Jason has been giving private lessons and coaching for 10+ years. He has coached in-house baseball in the Troy Township/Shorewood area for 4 of those years and comes to Prestige Baseball this year after coaching 2+ years with the Midwest Havoc. Hard work and respect for the game is what Jason grew up on, what he believes in and what he teaches.
